Building regulations state that homes should be insulated with a minimum of 270mm insulation, however most new build homes now come with 400mm as standard. While this improves thermal performance, simply boarding directly over it or compressing the insulation reduces its effectiveness. This is where raised loft boarding comes in – creating a platform above the insulation, maintaining airflow and preserving its full depth.
Loft Legs & XL Loft Legs are made from robust, lightweight recycled plastic that can safely support the weight of the loft boards and stored items without compromising the structure of your home. Manufactured here in the UK, they have been tested to exceed BS EN 1991-1-1:2002.
Our boards of choice and what we fit as standard are 18mm Grade 3 OSB boards. We have found that these boards are incredibly strong, & durable - with a smooth finish. It makes these boards ideal for loft storage and more than capable of handling regular foot traffic.
